HOW TO USE:
- Prepare the Vehicle: Ensure the vehicle is securely raised on an appropriate lift or positioned over a pit, with the transmission area accessible. If required, disconnect the drive shaft, shifter linkages, and electrical connectors from the transmission.
- Position the Jack: Roll the American Forge & Foundry 3172A transmission jack underneath the vehicle, centering the saddle beneath the transmission's pan or a stable structural point designed for lifting.
- Adjust the Saddle: Use the adjustable arms on the universal saddle to snugly secure the transmission. Ensure the transmission is balanced on the saddle. If included, fasten the safety chains around the transmission and saddle for added security.
- Raise the Transmission: Operate the pump handle to slowly raise the transmission jack. Guide the saddle carefully as it lifts, ensuring the transmission remains stable and centered. Raise it just enough to relieve its weight from the vehicle's mounts.
- Tilt for Alignment: Use the tilt controls on the head (front, rear, or side) to adjust the angle of the transmission as needed for proper alignment during removal or installation. This is crucial for guiding the input shaft into place or separating it from the engine.
