HOW TO USE:
- Prepare the Sander: Connect the Hutchins 3900 orbital sander to a clean, regulated air supply capable of providing at least 90 PSI and 11.4 CFM. Ensure the air hose is securely attached.
- Attach Sandpaper: Choose the appropriate grit of sandpaper for your task. If using PSA paper, peel off the backing and carefully align it onto the sanding pad, pressing firmly to adhere. If using clip-on paper, insert one end under a clip, pull the paper taut over the pad, and secure the other end under the remaining clip.
- Safety Precautions: Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and a dust mask or respirator, especially when sanding materials that produce fine dust.
- Begin Sanding: Hold the sander firmly with both hands. Place the sanding pad flat against the surface to be sanded. Engage the trigger to start the orbital action. Move the sander in smooth, overlapping passes across the workpiece, maintaining even pressure.
- Maintain Even Pressure and Movement: Avoid tilting the sander or applying excessive pressure in one spot, as this can create unevenness or swirl marks. Let the tool do the work, guiding it steadily over the surface.
- Monitor Progress: Periodically lift the sander to inspect the surface and assess material removal. Change sandpaper grits as needed to progress from heavier removal to finer finishing.
- Clean Up: Once sanding is complete, disconnect the air supply. Clean the sander and surrounding area, removing any dust or debris.
