HOW TO USE:
- Drill the pilot hole: Use the correct size drill bit for your material. For a 1/4"-28 NF tap, a #3 drill bit is typically recommended.
- Align the tap: Insert the tap into a tap wrench, ensuring it is centered. Place the tap squarely over the drilled hole.
- Start the thread: Apply light, even pressure and turn the tap clockwise for a right-hand thread. The plug chamfer will help guide the tap into the hole.
- Cut and clear chips: After a half-turn or one full turn, reverse the tap a quarter turn to break off the chips. Repeat this process, turning the tap clockwise to cut and counter-clockwise to clear chips until the full thread depth is achieved.
- Finish the process: Once the thread is fully cut, carefully turn the tap counter-clockwise to remove it from the workpiece.
