HOW TO USE:

• Assess the Situation: Quickly identify the source of severe bleeding and ensure your own safety.
• Apply the Tourniquet (If Limb Bleeding):
  • Position the RapidStop® Tourniquet high on the injured limb, above the bleeding site. If the bleeding is at or near a joint, place the tourniquet just above the joint.
  • Pass the strap around the limb and insert the tip into the buckle.
  • Pull the strap tight until the bleeding stops. Secure the strap.
  • Twist the windlass until the bleeding is controlled.
  • Secure the windlass in the holder and note the application time on the tourniquet or with the permanent marker on the casualty's forehead.
• Apply Hemostatic Gauze (For Wound Packing):
  • If the bleeding is in an area where a tourniquet cannot be applied or as an adjunct to tourniquet use, open the hemostatic gauze.
  • Pack the gauze directly into the wound cavity, applying firm and direct pressure. Ensure the entire wound is filled.
  • Maintain pressure on the wound.
• Apply Trauma Dressing (For External Wounds):
  • For external bleeding, apply the trauma dressing directly over the wound.
  • Wrap the elastic bandage around the limb or body part to secure the dressing and apply additional pressure.
• Apply Chest Seal (For Chest Wounds):
  • For open chest wounds, apply the chest seal directly over the wound.
  • Ensure good adhesion to create a seal, preventing air from entering the chest cavity. If a vented seal is used, follow the product instructions.
• Maintain Body Temperature: Use the thermal blanket to help prevent hypothermia by wrapping it around the injured person.
• Monitor the Casualty: Observe the casualty for any changes in condition until professional medical help arrives.
• Use Gloves and Shears as Needed: Utilize the included gloves for personal protection. Use the emergency shears to cut away clothing to expose the wound.
